The Standard Miami: Hot Spot or Too Much Heat?

If you’ve been tuned into the city’s social buzz, you’ve likely heard about The Standard Miami. Whether you're a local or visiting, this spot has become a popular destination for those seeking a mix of relaxation, indulgence, and sun-soaked days. We’ve been hearing about it regularly at Soho Beach House, so we decided to check it out ourselves. Here’s a our take on what The Standard Miami has to offer.

The Spa

Let’s start with the spa, one of the key attractions at The Standard Miami. From deep tissue massages to indulgent pedicures, the menu offers a wide range of treatments that cater to different needs. And the Standard is full of personality so you’ll need to read the descriptions to understand what you get with the Hurts So Good, the Royal Chill, the Soul Temple, or the Standard Intervention. We’re not joking - these are real treatments you can buy, but they aren’t cheap. A 75 minute Hurts So Good massage currently costs $277.

The Turkish-style hammam is a standout feature—a steam room experience that combines heat and relaxation in a luxurious setting. If you prefer the outdoors, the saltwater infinity pool overlooking Biscayne Bay offers a serene spot for hydrotherapy sessions. Overall, the spa delivers on its promise of tranquility, making it a great choice for those in need of some serious relaxation.

We spent two days at the spa. In addition to spending quality time in the hamman, we did the Urban Warrior Ritual and the Worshipped Pedicure.

The Urban Warrior Ritual description:

“Whether you are training for a marathon or sitting in local traffic, chances are your body could use a good anti-inflammatory makeover. Start this ritual with wind-down time in the hamam, steam and sauna to slow your mind, open your pores and soften your muscles. Then we take over with a soothing, nourishing and cleansing active body mask rich in botanical anti-inflammatory properties to help remove toxins and metabolic wastes. Next comes a massage with an oil based on a traditional Ayurvedic recipe that targets muscle and joint stiffness and pain. Leave this ritual ready to tackle your next urban adventure.“

The Worshipped Pedicure description:

“Bathe and massage your feet in warm coconut milk and floral essences in tubs filled with polished basalt river stones. Your hand + foot mistress will exfoliate you with a tropical sugar scrub, followed by a sea mineral mask to detoxify and smooth weary extremities before the actual pedicure even begins. Then it’s on to a deep hydrating massage with hot stones for a smooth finish.”

We honestly don’t know if the experience really was all of that, but we certainly were relaxed and refreshed by the end.

The Restaurant & Bar

The restaurant at The Standard Miami brings together fresh, locally sourced ingredients with global flavors. The menu isn’t the most diverse but has plenty of options, from healthy salads to rich Mediterranean-inspired dishes. They also serve a great range of cocktails, which is always a plus. The setting is casual yet chic, with outdoor seating that provides beautiful views of the bay—perfect for brunch, dinner, or a casual meal with friends.

While the food is tasty and the service is decent, it’s worth noting that the atmosphere is more laid-back than overly refined. This makes it a great spot for those who enjoy good food in a relaxed environment, without the formality of some of Miami’s more upscale dining options. We definitely use this a go-to spot.

The Pool

The pool area at The Standard Miami is a major draw, but it’s important to know what you’re getting into. Surrounded by greenery and offering stunning views of the bay, the pool is a social hotspot. There’s definitely energy, but we will say that the atmosphere can sometimes border on a bit too much of a scene. It’s a place to see and be seen, with a lively crowd that’s often more about socializing than swimming.

One thing to keep in mind: the pool is adults-only. Since children are not allowed, it’s easier to maintain a certain level of calm amidst the buzz. But as the day progresses, you’ll likely see the party vibes kick in. Particularly on the weekend, you might see patrons swimming topless and hopeful singles mingling.

Day Passes & Memberships

If you’re not staying at The Standard, you can still enjoy its amenities by purchasing a membership. It’s expensive, starting at $400 per month for an individual pass. If you want a membership that includes a guest pass, you’ll be paying $575 per month. Plus, there is a $1200 one-time initiation fee. So ,we only recommend it if you’ll use it every week.

You can’t purchase access directly, but you can get a day pass by spending enough at the Spa. On the weekends, you need to spend $250+ and on weekdays you need to spend $125+. This day pass gives you access to the spa, pool, and other facilities, making it a great option for those looking to spend a day in luxury without committing to an overnight stay.

The Verdict: Is The Standard Miami worth the hype?

In many ways, yes. The Standard Miami offers a unique blend of relaxation, social energy, and culinary enjoyment that appeals to a wide range of visitors. The spa is genuinely rejuvenating, the restaurant delivers on flavor, and the pool—while lively—provides a quintessential Miami experience. There really is a ton to do here.

That said, the scene at the pool might not be everyone’s cup of tea, so it’s worth considering what kind of experience you’re looking for. For those who prefer a quieter or more family-friendly environment, you might want to stick to the spa or the restaurant.

In terms of how this nets out for us, the restaurant is one of our go-to spots and we enjoy the spa for a splurge experience, but we don’t think the pool scene is worth the price.
